The NICEIC is the industry's independent, non profit-making, voluntary regulatory body. Its sole purpose is to protect consumers from unsafe and unsound electrical work. It is not a trade association and does not represent the interests of electrical contractors.

The IET is an Institution formed in Spring 2006 by the coming together of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and the Institution of Installation Engineers. The IET defines the BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
